MADISON COUNTY – William “Bill” H. Hutchinson, 83, died Friday, June 5, 2009.
Born on February 20, 1926, in Roanoke, Va., he was the son of the late George and Nell Hutchinson.
He was/is a member of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Athens. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Army during World War II in the Philippines, and was honorably discharged in 1945 at the end of the war. He worked as a civil engineer when leaving the Army, working for the City of Lynchburg, Arlington County, and retired from Fairfax County in 1987, all in Virginia. He was instrumental in being founding members of the Warrenton Kennel Club, the Culpepper Kennel Club, and the Fredericksburg Kennel Club, all in Virginia.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Mary M. Hutchinson; daughters, Dale Scalici, Cynthia Smith and Karen Hutchinson; two grandsons; three granddaughters; four great-grandsons; and one great-granddaughter.
Memorial services will be held Monday, June 15, at 2 p.m., at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, which is located at 498 Prince Ave., Athens. Burial will be conducted later in Maryland at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Episcopal Relief and Development and any amount will be appreciated.
