CONROE, TEXAS – Emma “Tootsie Jones” Harper, 80, died Saturday, May 23, 2009, following a brief illness.
Born in Belton on December 21, 1928, she had resided in the Houston, Texas area for the past 53 years. She retired from American General Insurance Company after 37 years of service.
Mrs. Harper was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Harper, Cleveland, Texas; sisters, Tracy Jones Barrett and Tommie Jones Terrell, both of Lula; brothers, Ralph P. Jones, Gainesville, and John Daniel Jones, Houston, Texas; and granddaughter, Tiffany Bumstead, Conroe, Texas.
Survivors include her daughter, Twilah Bumstead, Conroe, Texas; grandchildren, Reanna Bumstead and Bryce Lape, Conroe, Texas; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home North-Riverside Chapel. Burial will follow in the Old Belton Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 29, at the funeral home.
