HULL – Bennie Floyd “Pop” Anderson, 69, died Friday, May 22, 2009, at Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens.
Born on April 20, 1940, he was the son of the late Clyde Anderson and Annie Mae Anderson Donahue. He was a member of New Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include his devoted wife, Laverne Sorrells-Anderson; a son, Deston Bernard Anderson (Cordelia); grandchildren, Chaketta Hill, James Hill, Deleon Denard Anderson, Destiney Ar’moni Anderson and Desirae Ashuantie Anderson; brothers, Willie Clyde Anderson Sr. (Frances) and Leroy Anderson Sr. (Wylene); sisters, Eva Anderson-Turner, Louise Anderson-Smith (Joseph), and Edna Jean Donahue; special sister-in-law, Rosa Anderson; devoted nephew, Kevin Sorrells; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 27, at New Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. C.M. Hawkins officiating. Burial was at Sims Cemetery.
Mack & Payne Funeral Home, Athens, was in charge of arrangements.
