ROYSTON – William Douglas “Doug” Evans, 65, died Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at St. Mary’s Hospice House in Bogart.
Born in Franklin County on June 24, 1943, he was the son of the late Morgan and Florence Royston Evans. He was a retired truck driver and a member of the Grace Baptist Church. Mr. Evans was preceded in death by a grandchild, Morgan Baker; brother, Marvin Evans; and sister, Frances Marlow.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel Rose Phillips Evans, Royston; daughter, Gail E. Baker, Lavonia; stepdaughter, Sonya Eckles, Lavonia; stepson, Lamar Pullien, Dewy Rose; grandchildren, Abie Baker and John Baker; stepgrandchildren, Daniel and Danielle Eckles and Tony and Tonya Pullien.
Memorial services were held Friday, May 22, at Grace Baptist Church with the Revs. Dale Holcomb and Andy Huff officiating. Burial was in the Franklin Springs Baptist Church cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Baptist Church Building Fund or the American Cancer Society (Franklin County Chapter).
Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, was in charge of arrangements.
