JEFFERSON – Lessie Skelton Cooper, 82, died Wednesday, May 20, 2009.
A native of Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late John and Ila Phillips Skelton. She was a homemaker, a member of White Plains Baptist Church, and an avid gardener and cake baker. Mrs. Cooper was preceded in death by her husband, Brady Cooper.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Gene Reynolds, Sue and Roy Tolbert, all of Jefferson, Linda and Gene White, Winder, Janie and Johnie Roberts, Concord, N.C.; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sister, Ila Jane Roberts, Winder; special sister-in-law, Sue Cooper, Statham; brother-in-law, Guy Cooper, Winder; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 22, in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. Kevin Page officiating.
Burial was in the White Plains Baptist Church cemetery. Pallbearers were Stacy Tolbert, Mark Reynolds, Jason Lawrence, Darryl Huntsinger, Gary Griffin, John McCartney and Craig Probert.
Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, was in charge of arrangements.
