MAYSVILLE—James “Jim” Emmett Gray Sr., 58, died Friday, May 15, 2009, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.
Born in Knoxville, Tenn., he was the son of the late Hubert and Zelma Bowers Gray. He was married to Mildred Lacey Gray and had worked as a security guard for U.S. Securities.
Survivors, along with his wife, include daughters, Angela Sue Hancox, Greenback, Tenn., Renae Higgins, Winchester, Tenn., and Janet Renee Smith, Knoxville, Tenn.; sons, James Emmett Gray Jr., Rock Springs, and William Dale Gray, Nicholson; sisters, Sue Sampson, Illinois, and Denna Jump, Tennessee; brothers, Don Welch, Tennessee, and Carol Gray, Dawsonville; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday at the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home. Burial followed in Grey Hill Cemetery.
Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, was in charge of arrangements.
