ROYSTON – Donald Melvin Stanley, 61, formerly of Alto, died Monday, May 11, 2009, at his residence following an extended illness.
Born in Banks County on February 10, 1948, he was the son of the late J.C. and Beulah Wade Stanley. He was of the Holiness denomination and enjoyed spending time with friends and family, loved ones stated. Mr. Stanley was preceded in death by a brother, George Meeks.
Survivors include his wife, Connie Garner Stanley, Royston; daughter, Stacy Stanley, Royston; son, Tim Stanley, Nicholson; sisters, Geraldine Free and Janell Thompson, both of Lula, Susie Holland, Alto; grandson, Taylor Hubbard; three nieces; and two nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 12, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with the Revs. Nathan Hewitt and Scott Ledbetter officiating. Burial will be in the Wade Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, May 11, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the funeral home.
