Jack Lee Herr, 69, of Jefferson, died Thursday, June 19, 2008, at Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens, following a sudden illness.
He was born in Sheldon, Iroquois County, Ill., the son of the late Maurice and Hazel Long Herr and was a member of Free Chapel Worship Center. He moved to North Georgia in 1984 and was employed in the commercial steel business. Mr. Herr was preceded in death by sisters, Bobbie Sparhawk and Diana Asoero; and a brother, Maurice Herr Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Valerie Henry Herr, Jefferson; daughters and sons-in-law, Julie Ann and Dave Rindahl, Oakwood, Lisa Marie and Rik Woodward, Ogdensburg, N.Y., and Jodi Lane and Johnny Godwin, Bethlehem; sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen and Holly Herr, Flushing, Mich., and Jason and Jenny Holliday, Sparta, Wis.; 14 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; sisters and brothers-in-law, Della Craig, Delphi, Ind., Cora and Larry Ware, Ft. Myers, Fla., Noreeta and Max Pearson, South Bend, Ind., Cheryl and Ernie Beard, Lafayette, Ind.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Leonard and Rita Herr, Lafayette, Ind., Richard and Kerry Herr, Apopka, Fla., and Duane and Beth Herr, Greenville, Tenn.; and a number of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Memorial services were held Sunday, June 22, in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Memorial Park Funeral Home, Gainesville, was in charge of arrangements.
