BOWMAN – Clarence Owen Welborn, 78, died Monday, May 4, 2009, at the Hart County Hospital.
Born in Iva, S.C., on July 13, 1930, he was the son of the late Harvey and Millie Sue Sanders Welborn. He was retired from Owens Corning Fiberglass in Anderson, S.C., and attended Faith Baptist Church in Bowman and Vineyard’s Creek Baptist Church in Comer. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Navy. Mr. Welborn was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Jean Hardckoft Welborn.
Survivors include daughters, Debra Duncan, Royston, and Donna Phillips, Anderson, S.C.; stepchildren, Danny Lord, Comer, Debra Burgess, Cartersville, and Amanda Frost; brother, Jimmy Welborn, Elberton; sisters, Virginia Johnson, Elberton, Patsy Higginbotham, Athens; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 7, at 2 p.m., at the Vineyard Creek Baptist Church with Dr. Larry Green officiating. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Bowman. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, May 6, from 6 to 8 p.m.
