WINTERVILLE – Thomas Cole Tanner, 40, died Saturday, April 25, 2009.
A native of Corvallis, Ore., he was the son of Richard Thomas and Sarah Johnson Tanner of Boone, Iowa. He was director of the Center for Economic Modeling at Clemson University.
His love for the theater allowed him to be associated with the Duluth Playhouse in Duluth, Minn., the Des Moines Playhouse in Des Moines, Iowa, the Boone Community Theater in Boone, Iowa, and the Town and Gown Players in Athens. An avid hiker, he had extensively traveled Europe and the western United States, his favorite hiking location being Escalante, Utah, loved ones stated.
Survivors in addition to his parents, include a daughter, Camryn Sarah Tanner, Carlton; and countless friends in his theater community.
Private memorial services will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in his memory to the Town and Gown Players, P.O. Box 565, Athens, GA 30601.
Bernstein Funeral Home, Athens, is in charge of arrangements.
