William Baker

William Horace Baker, 73, of Maysville, died Saturday, June 21, 2008, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.

He was born in Jackson County, the son of the late Orville and Cora Lee Watkins Baker. Mr. Baker was preceded in death by brothers, Alford Baker and Shirley Baker; and a sister, Modell Sorrows.

Survivors include his wife, Martha M. Baker, Maysville; daughters, Patsy Wiley, Banks County, and Phyllis Collins, Hull; a son, William Fred Baker, Bryson City, N.C.; brothers, W.C. Baker, Bob Baker, Lonnie Baker, Calvin Baker and Wendy Baker; sister, Jean Richey; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 23, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home with the Rev. David Strickland officiating. Burial was in Howington Cemetery.

Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, was in charge of arrangements.
