ATHENS – Otis Lee Childs, 67, died Thursday, April 30, 2009, following a long battle with cancer.
He was the son of the late James Willie and Lenora Childs. He was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Childs; and sister, Frances Maddox.
Mr. Childs was a former member of the United States Airborne and original founder of the Boar’s Head Lounge in Five Points.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Channell and loving companion, Buddy; brother and sister-in-law, James Raymond and Ruby Childs; sister, Nettie Bradshaw; numerous nieces and nephews; and too many friends to count.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 2, at Bernstein Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Hardy officiating. Honorary pallbearers were Ben Fuqua, Tom Griffeth, Dewey Howington, Clelle Kinney, Gerald Maddox, David Porter, George Townsend, Charles Underwood, Harry Underwood and Thomas Underwood.
Bernstein Funeral Home, Athens, was in charge of the arrangements.
