Hoyt W. Anderson, 87, of Athens, died Friday, June 20, 2008, at the Cobb Healthcare Center in Comer.
He was born in Pocatella, the son of the late Julian Lawson and Hattie Lee Wheeler Anderson. Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Hanley; and brothers, J.P. Anderson, Howard Anderson and Roy Anderson. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Army.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Osborne Anderson; children, Francis Parker, Augusta, William Anderson, Gardner, Mass., Frankie Walters, Dunbar, W.V., Dianne Rucker, Lewisville, N.C., and Delphine Bullock, Arnoldsville; sisters, Mildred Hix, Commerce, Lorene Guest, Toccoa, and Marie Turner, Snellville; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 23, at Galilee Holiness Church in Ila with the Rev. Larry Dyer officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, was in charge of arrangements.
