CLARKESVILLE – Ford M. “Doc” Doss, 76, died Tuesday, April 28, 2009.
Born in Jackson County on March 7, 1933, he was the son of the late George and India Elizabeth Samples Doss. He was the former owner of Doss Plumbing and Electric and was a veteran, having served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Doss was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Watkins; second wife, Dorris Doss; brother, Thomas Doss; sister, Mary Lou Mathis; and sister-in-law, Evelyn Doss.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Shirley Doss, Todd and Janine Doss, all of Mt. Airy; sister and brother-in-law, Melba and Jack Lewis, Maysville; brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Frances Doss, Maysville; sister-in-law, Maggie Doss, Maysville; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; stepdaughters and stepsons-in-law, Kristy F. and Charles Lockert, Lawrenceville, Freda and David Church Sr., Mt. Airy; stepson-in-law and stepdaughter-in-law, Mark and Ronda Chadderdon, Banks County.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 1, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Whitfield Funeral Home with the Rev. Trent Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Oconee Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, April 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
