DANIELSVILLE – Willie Robert “Bob” Shelnut, 76, died Saturday, April 25, 2009.
A native of Madison County, he was the son of the late Thomas Henry and Willie Lois Murray Shelnut. He retired from the United States Air Force after 22 years, then he worked in Washington, DC for many years. After retirement, he moved to a farm in Madison County.
Survivors include sons and daughter-in-law, Mark and Grace Shelnut, Bogart, and Willie Robert Shelnut II, Virginia; brothers, Dan Shelnut, Atlanta, Hoyt Shelnut, Athens, and Roger Shelnut, Montgomery, Ala.; and two grandchildren.
No services are planned at this time. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, East, Athens, is in charge of arrangements.
