GAINESVILLE – Gertrude Bishop Flanagan, 81, died Saturday, April 25, 2009, at her residence following an extended illness.
Born on December 14, 1927, she was the daughter of the late W.T. and Fairlena Wilson Bishop. She worked for 37 years and retired from Chicopee. She was employed as a loom filter for Chicopee and was the first and only woman to ever hold that position. She was a charter member of South Hall Baptist Church, where she served as treasurer and was active in every field of her church. Mrs. Flanagan was preceded in death by a son, Bradley Lee Norris; and grandson, Scotty Norris. She was an avid deer and turkey hunter, and loved fishing and camping with her family, loved ones stated.
Survivors include her husband of 35 wonderful years, Frank Falnagan; daughter, Paulette Turk; sons and daughter-in-law, the Rev. Wayne Norris and Debbie Norris, Jefferson, and Ricky Flanagan; grandchildren, Gregg and April Lunsford, Patti Bynum, Keith Flanagan; great-grandchildren, Devin and Brad Bynum, Cody and Ashley Lunsford; and a stepdaughter, Kathy Tony.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 28, in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with the Revs. Charles Grant and Wayne Norris officiating.
Memorial Park Funeral Home, Gainesville, was in charge of arrangements.
