PATTERSON – Dorothy Aline Dixon Riggins, 91, died Thursday, April 23, 2009, at Satilla Regional Medical Center, following an extended illness.
A native of Pierce County, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Henry “Lester” Dixon and Mattie Lee Jackson Dixon. She had lived all of her life in Patterson, was a retired school teacher and secretary, and a former treasurer of the Retired Educators Association. She was the oldest living member of Patterson Baptist Church, where she had sung in the choir and taught Sunday School for many years. Mrs. Riggins was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Truman “R.T.” Riggins. She loved to travel and ‘sight see’ in many different places, loved ones stated.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Jimmy Mock, Jefferson, and Gail and Bill Jordan, St. Simon’s Island; sister, Faye Smith, Montgomery, Ala.; grandchildren and spouses, Holly and Kerry Courchaine, Jefferson, Chris and Ivy Mock, Patterson; great-grandchildren, Summerlin Courchaine, Langley Courchaine, Bracey Courchaine, Riggs Mock; several nieces and nephews; and numerous other relatives.
Funeral services were held Sunday, April 26, at Patterson Baptist Church. Burial was in the Patterson cemetery. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Faith Sunday School Class.
