HOMER – Reese Argene “The Candy Man” Coker, 81, died Thursday, April 23, 2009, at St. Mary’s Hospice House.
Born in Banks County, he was the son of the late Nathaniel A. and Eula Westbrook Coker. He was retired from the Department of Transportation and was a member of Nails Creek Baptist Church. Mr. Coker was preceded in death by brothers, Dwayne, Clyde and Charles Coker.
Survivors include his wife, Bessie Willene Merck Coker, Homer; a daughter, Shirley White, Commerce; son, Rex Coker, Hull; brothers, Dewey Coker, Toccoa, Travis Coker, Lilburn; sisters, Francine Payne, Norcross, Bernice Partin, Snellville, and Mary Ann Kitchens, Grayson; grandchildren, Christopher White and Nathan Coker.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 26, at 2:30 p.m., from the Nails Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. John King, Frank Sailors and Duane Eller officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, April 25, from 4 to 8 p.m.
Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, is in charge of arrangements.
