WINDER - Robert D. Self, 62, died Wednesday, April 22, 2009.
Born in Jackson County, he was the son of the late William Carl and Coney Alice Hayes Self. He was retired from the Superior Garment Company and was of the Baptist denomination.
Survivors include his wife Joyce Hammond Self, Winder; a son, Barry Self, Winder; daughters, Rhonda Covington, Bethlehem, Wanda White and Regina Hall, both of Winder, and Tracy Proud, Carnesville; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Thomas Self, Braselton, and William Ernest Self, Auburn; a sister, Eva Mae Clark, Winder; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Friday, April 24, at 2 p.m., from Smith Memory Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service. The body will be cremated.
Smith Funeral Home, Winder, is in charge of arrangements.
