CLERMONT – Joseph Neal Timms, 88, died Sunday, April 19, 2009.
Born on May 4, 1920, in Forsyth County, he was the son of the late “Judge” Joe Timms and Fannie Holbrook Timms. He graduated from Piedmont College and George Peabody College, and was with the Gwinnett County School System for over 30 years as an educator and as a principal. He was a member of the Lions Club, as well as the Lawrenceville Masonic Lodge #131 F & AM. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Army Air Corps. Mr. Timms was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Elizabeth Fitzpatrick Timms; and a brother, Billy Timms.
Survivors include a sons and daughter-in-law, Joseph Neal “Joe” Timms, Clermont, Pat and Melinda Timms, Dallas; daughters and son-in-law, Pam Timms, Ft. Collins, Colo., Jane and Scott Cleveland, Cleveland; sister, Kathleen Timms Rogers, Cumming; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday, April 23, in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home.
