HOMER – Monta Caudell Meeler, 93, died Wednesday, April 22, 2009.
Born on July 31, 1915, in Homer, she was the daughter of the late P.G. Caudell Sr. and Gladys Bell Caudell. She was a member of the Damascus Baptist Church and was a seamstress at Carwood Manufacturing with 30 years of service. Mrs. Meeler was preceded in death by her husband, Swayne Meeler; sons, Loyd and Billy Meeler; and brothers, George S., Talmadge, and Ford Caudell.
Survivors include a daughter, Eva Mae Evans, Willis, Va.; son and daughter-in-law, James N. and Melva Jean Meeler, Cornelia; sisters, Marie Wilkinson, Baldwin, Marilyn Caldwell, Chamblee, and Bobbie Taylor, Baldwin; brother, P.G. Caudell Jr., Homer, 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 24, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Whitfield Funeral Home with the Revs. Roy Rogers and Luther Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Damascus Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, April 23, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
