GAINESVILLE – William Joseph “Bill” Brittle Jr., 59, died Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at his residence, following an extended illness.
Born on July 1, 1949, in Greenville, S.C., he was the son of William Brittle and stepmother, Barbara Brittle of Gainesville, and the late Sara Rosenbaum Brittle. He was employed by Wilheit Packaging for 14 years and was a member of Lula Worship Canter. Mr. Brittle was preceded in death by brothers, Charles Brittle and Richard Brittle.
Survivors in addition to his father and stepmother include his wife, Linda Jones Brittle, Gainesville; son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Anna Rea Brittle, Gainesville; special stepson and his wife, Scott and Kelly Chapman, Carnesville; special stepgranddaugter, Kelsie Chapman, Carnesville; sisters, Vickie Brittle, Sara Brittle, Jennie Brittle and Judy Brittle; brother and sister-in-law, Pat and Brenda Brittle, Gainesville; brother, Paul Brittle, Florida; stepson and wife, Michael and Denise Cagle, Jefferson; stepdaughters and husband, Diane Cagle Lee, Gainesville, Regina and Floyd Hogan, Huntsville, Ala.; stepsisters, Robin Horn and Beth Bridgewater, both of Gainesville; 15 stepgrandchildren; and seven stepgreat-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 24, at 11 a.m., at Lula Worship Center with the Revs. Bobby Griffin and Scott Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 22, from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday, April 23, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial Park Funeral Home, Gainesville, is in charge of arrangements.
