Calvin Garrett

CLEVELAND – Calvin Garrett, 70, died Sunday, April 19, 2009, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, following an extended illness.

Born in Towns County, he was the son of the late Jimmy and Vassie Taylor Garrett. He was a retired engineer at Lockheed Corporation.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys Y. (Vonzie) Garrett, Cleveland; daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Joe Barnes, Gainesville, Crystal and Mike Blalock and Henrietta Becker, all of Cleveland; son and daughter-in-law, Calvin (Bo) and Jessica Garrett, Cleveland; grandchildren, Isaiah and Ashley Mealor, Homer, Alex Blalock, Courtney Blalock, Cooper John Garrett, Dylan Hendrix, all of Cleveland, Tommy Becker and Glenn Becker, Florida; sisters, Evie Adams, Kate Chastain, both of Sautee, Lorene Halford, Clarkesville, Sue Shelnut, Virginia (Ginger) Brown, both of Cleveland; and brothers, Vaughn Garrett, Bud Garrett, both of Cleveland.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 21, in the chapel of Barrett Funeral Home with the Revs. Anthony Shore, Marc Turner and Steve Brannon, and Jeff Shelnut officiating. Burial was in Yonah View Memorial Gardens.

Barrett Funeral Home, Cleveland, was in charge of arrangements.
