PENDERGRASS – Liddie Bell “Billie” Benson, 91, died Monday, April 13, 2009.
Born in Forsyth County on June 2, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Hall Monroe and Mary Robb Benson. She was preceded in death by all of her immediate family, which included 16 brothers, half brothers, sisters and half sisters. She enjoyed playing the piano and singing, rocking in her rocking chair, and especially loved her dolls and her late sister, loved ones stated.
Survivors include a special niece, Martha Ann Cooper, Jefferson; nieces, Mary Williams, Talmo, Sandra Edwards, Woodstock, and Merita Beatty, Newnan; nephews, Roy Evans, Pendergrass, Bradford and Jimmy Benson, Jefferson; along with nieces and nephews out of the local area; and a special nurse, Louise Brown, Commerce.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 16, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. Henry Webb officiating. Burial will be in the Pendergrass Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Benson, Roy Evans, Claude Crowe Jr., Hansel Williams, Joe McMullan and David McEver. Honorary pallbearers will be Bradford Benson, Bruce Elrod and Mitch Shropshire.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pendergrass Baptist Church, P.O. Box 146, Pendergrass, GA 30567.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 15, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, is in charge of arrangements.
