GAINESVILLE – Lavone “Pookie” Harvey Stephens, 54, died Monday, April 6, 2009, at Gateway Nursing Home in Cleveland following a sudden illness.
Born on May 18, 1954, in Hall County, she was the daughter of the late Obediah and Lucille Nuckles Harvey.
Survivors include her husband, Donald Stephens, Gainesville; daughter, Lisa Harvey Dixon, Toccoa; sisters and brothers-in-law, Pat and Clifford Harper, Braselton, Josephine and Linton Stringer and Regina Totty, Maxine Montgomery, all of Gainesville, Barbara Strong, Milwaukee, Wis., Vivian Harvey, Atlanta; brothers and sister-in-law, Lenard Harvey, McKinsley Harvey, Havis and Jackie Harvey, all of Gainesville; two grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 11, in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with the Rev. Nathaniel Montgomery officiating. Burial was in Alta Vista Cemetery.
Memorial Park Funeral Home, Gainesville, was in charge of arrangements.
