ROYSTON – Mary Sue Phelps, 93, died Friday, April 10, 2009, at the Brown Memorial Convalescent Center in Royston.
Born in Jackson County on December 15, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Mose and Anna Tolbert Walls. She was retired from Oxford Manufacturing and was a charter member of the New Hope Worship Center, where she was a former Sunday School teacher and member of the Women’s Ministry. Mrs. Phelps was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Hubbard Phelps; daughter, Annie R. Price; and great-grandson, Shawn Hill.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Donnie Barrett, Colbert, Mary Ellen and Travis Fowler, Royston; grandchildren and spouses, Vickey and Frank Disharoon, Patricia and Keith Salsman, Gary Price, Donald and Carol Barrett, Michael and Janet Fowler, and Sheri Fowler; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Eleanor Turnbull, Bishop; brother, James Walls, Winder; and caregiver, Lucy Moon.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 13, at New Hope Worship Center with the Revs. Malcolm Herndon and Dennis Kesler officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
