QUITMAN – Frank Willard Wilson, 89, died Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at the Brooks County Hospital, following a brief illness.
Born in Franklin County on October 18, 1919, he was the son of the late Sam and Flora Mitchell Wilson and grew up in Madison County. He was a driver for the Dodge Dealership and was a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II. He was of the Baptist denomination. He enjoyed the Saturday Moring Brooks County Men’s Bible Group, watching baseball on television, and watching his friend’s young sons play baseball. Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche Peek Wilson; and brothers, Mack Wilson, Danielsville, Jack Wilson, Decatur, and Ray Wilson, Ohio; and a sister, Dot Whitehead, Colbert.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Donald Cobb, Conyers, Angie and Bill Sweetnam, Punta Gorda, Fla., and Sherry Houston, Athens; two stepsons and stepdaughter-in-law, Jerry and Iris Peek, Quitman, Grady David Peek, Nashville; stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Betty and John Mullins, Lakeland, Fla.; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren; sisters, Amilee Weathington, Greenwood, S.C., and Grace Pearson, Troy, S.C.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 10, at McIntosh Retirement Center Chapel-Presbyterian Home in Quitman with the Rev. Jay Robertson officiating. Burial was in the Oak Hill Cemetery.
