DANIELSVILLE – Varo Lucille Baxter “Grannio” Adams, 95, died Friday, April 10, 2009.
Born in Madison County on May 28, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Callie Scarborough Baxter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fonnie C. “Fuzz” Adams; son, Burlan T. Adams; sisters, Myrtie Baxter, Annie Mae Adams, Margaret Lord; brothers, Allen, Roy, Paul and Marvin Baxter; great-granddaughter, Chelsea Richardson; and her beloved black poodle, Pepper.
Prior to her passing, she was the oldest member of Union Baptist Church and was retired from Bluebell Manufacturing Company. She was totally devoted to her family, and was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, loved ones stated.
Survivors include a son, Kenneth Riley Adams; daughter, Peggy Porterfield Weaver; grandchildren, Bron, Derek, Kevin, Todd and Ryan Porterfield, Roxanne Richardson, Patsy Chandler and Lynn Adams; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 13, at Union Baptist Church with the Revs. Walter Singletary and Billy Owensby officiating. Pallbearers were grandsons, Bron, Derek, Kevin, Todd and Ryan Porterfield, and great-grandson, Hayden Richardson.
Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, Danielsville, was in charge of arrangements.
