WINDER – Thomas Merkle Stringer, 78, died Friday, April 10, 2009.
Born on August 28, 1930, in Sanford, Fla., he was the owner of a successful real estate and insurance company for over 30 years. He served as scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 156 and was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Winder and the Brotherhood Class.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Ruby Stringer; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Danny Holdredge, Winterville; sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Lynn Stringer, Dacula, and Scott and Amy Stringer, Bethlehem; grandchildren, Katie and Sean Holdredge, Morgan and Matthew Stringer and Josh and Danielle Holmes.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 14, at 11 a.m., at Smith Memory Chapel with the Revs. John Talley and Lester Hall officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Georgia Baptist Developmental Disabilities Ministry, c/o First Baptist Church of Winder, P.O. Box 340, Winder, GA 30680, or to the church’s building fund in memory of Tom Stringer and in honor of Sean Holdredge.
Smith Funeral Home, Winder, is in charge of arrangements.
