Ruth Shiflet

HARTWELL – Ruth Adams Shiflet, 89, died Thursday, April 9, 2009, at her residence.

Born on November 9, 1919, in Metter, she was the daughter of the late Homer and Ethel Kirkland Jones. She was adopted and raised by Hafford and Georgia Adams. She was retired from Hartwell Mills and was a member of Sardis Baptist Church. Mrs. Shiflet was preceded in death by her husband, Lanier Shiflet; and a brother, Lonnie Adams.

Survivors include a son, Billy Shiflet, Hartwell; daughter, Mary Howard, Tiger; sister, Eula Gholston, Comer; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 11, in the chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with the Rev. John Silver officiating. Burial was in the Sardis Baptist Church cemetery.

Strickland Funeral Home, Hartwell, was in charge of arrangements.
