Katherine Beard

DANIELSVILLE – Katherine Beard, 86, died Sunday, April 5, 2009, at the Grandview Nursing Center in Athens.

Born in Franklin County on December 4, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Reese and Versie Sexton Beard. She was retired from Johnson & Johnson Consumer Products and was a member of the Providence Baptist Church, where she was a member of the WMU. Mrs. Beard was preceded in death by brothers, Oscar and Marvin Beard; and a sister, Jean Seay.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Dora and Jimmy Ervin, Helen and Garey Manley, and Kathy and Alvin Chastain, all of Danielsville; brother, O.B. Beard, Danielsville; six grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 8, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home with the Revs. Albert Vaughn and Dayton Logan officiating. Burial will be in the Cary Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, April 7, from 7 to 9 p.m.

Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, is in charge of arrangements.
