MT. AIRY – Sue Whitfield Moore, 73, died Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at Oak Heritage Healthcare.
Born in Banks County on March 14, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Hubert and Gertrude Caudell Whitfield. She was a homemaker and was a member of Hazel Creek Baptist Church, where she had taught children’s Sunday School for many years.
Survivors include her husband, Lynn Moore, Mt. Airy; daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon Hollis, Angela and Roger Blair, all of Mt. Airy, Mary and Chris McNairy, Athens, Ala.; son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Helen Moore, Clarkesville; sisters, Carolyn Purcell, Mt. Airy, Wansa Purcell, Genell Williams and Linda Poole, all of Homer; brothers, James Whitfield, Mt. Airy, Gary Whitfield, Homer, Lamar Whitfield, Clarkesville; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 4, at 2 p.m., from the Hazel Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Trent Smith and Billy Burrell officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with the Rev. Jesse Colbert officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, April 3, from 6 to 8 p.m.
