CUMMING – Montie Watson Johnson, 85, died Tuesday, March 31, 2009, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.
Born in Madison County on October 3, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Lee Watson Sr. and Leila Gaddis Watson. She was a retired secretary at the University of Georgia and was a member of North Lanier Baptist Church of Cumming. Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Johnson Sr.; brothers, Guy Watson, Lee “Doc” Watson; sisters, Annie Carey, Ruth Phillips, Mamie Davis, Ina Beard, Dossie Adams, Henrietta Kinney, and Edna Ruth McClure.
Survivors include sons, Charles W. Johnson Jr., Gainesville, and Douglas D. Watson, Buford; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 2, at 7 p.m., in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home with the Rev. Hutch Matteson officiating. Graveside services will be held Friday, April 3, at 2 p.m. in the Danielsville Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Ron DeMoss officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m.
