Alice Standridge

CORNELIA – Alice Sue Dodd Standridge, 82, died Monday, March 30, 2009, at a private care facility.

Born on April 10, 1926, in Banks County, she was the daughter of the late Sam and Clothie Lynch Dodd and was the last of her immediate family. She was formerly employed with New Holland Mill with several years of service and retired from Mt. Vernon Mills with 10 years of service. She was a member of Alto Baptist Church. Mrs. Standridge was preceded in death by a brother, Monroe Dodd; sisters, Lois Crocker, Gladys Croker, Bernice Owensby, Evelyn Murray, Betty Elrod and Vellie Thomas.

Survivors include a daughter, Janie Sue Sellers Walker, Cornelia; grandchildren, Jason Gabriel Sellers and Amber Kirby Green; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 1, at 2 p.m., at Whitfield Funeral Home with the Rev. Harrill Millsaps officiating. Burial will be in Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, March 31, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
