COMMERCE – Lee R. Purdue III, 68, died Saturday, March 28, 2009, at St. Mary’s Hospice House.
Born on September 28, 1940, in Wrens, he was the son of the late Lee Roy and Nelle B. Perdue. He graduated from Wrens High School and attended DeKalb College, Georgia State University, and graduated cum laude from Mercer University College of Pharmacy. He worked as a pharmacist around the Atlanta and Athens areas, worked briefly at Horton Homes, and raised cattle. Mr. Perdue was a veteran, having served in the United States Army 537th Engineer Company, 30th Battalion Topographical Survey Unit Fort Belvoir, Va., from March 1962-April 1964. He was a member of ARP Presbyterian Church in Wrens. He was a loving son, husband, and enjoyed being with his family, loved ones stated. Mr. Perdue was preceded in death by a nephew, Timothy Evans.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Janice R. Perdue, Commerce; sister, Frances P. Evans, Richardson, Texas; and nephew, Gary C. Evans, Flowers Mound, Texas.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 30, at 7 p.m., in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Vickery officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Wrens Memorial Cemetery in Wrens.
