MURPHY, N.C. – Christopher Ezekiel “Zeke” Quillian, 18, died Thursday, March 26, 2009.
He was the son of Billie Dean Quillian of Pendergrass, and father and stepmother, Christopher M. and Jody Quillian of Murphy, N.C. He was a native of Hall County, but had been living in Cherokee County, N.C., for the past five years. He attended Murphy High School, was presently working as an apprentice lineman for Sumpter Utilities, was a member of the Hanging Dog Volunteer Fire Department and attended the Owl Creek Baptist Church in Murphy, N.C.
Survivors in addition to his parents include stepsisters, Maryellen McCray and Erin McCray, both of Murphy, N.C.; maternal grandmother, Kathryn Pennington, Pendergrass; paternal grandfather, Jimmy Quillian, Murrayville; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 30, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy, N.C., with the Revs. Rick Edwards and Steve Hobbs officiating. Burial will be in the Mountain Creek Baptist Church cemetery in Pendergrass on Tuesday, March 31, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Jeff Graham officiating. Pallbearers were Stephen Bowers, Shane and Shannon Bruce, Eric Ricky, and Ben Pennington.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Hanging Dog Volunteer Fire Department, 3839 Hanging Dog Rd., Murphy, NC 28906.
Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy, N.C., is in charge of arrangements.
