ALTO – James Hubert Carlyle, 91, died Saturday, March 28, 2009, following an extended illness.
Born in Hall County on October 29, 1917, he was the son of the late James Moses and Crissey Azalee Stephens Carlyle. He was a member of the Chattahoochee Baptist Church and was a farmer. Mr. Carlyle was preceded in death by his first wife, Azzie Dalton Carlyle; brother, Hoyt Carlyle; and a sister, Arbele Pethel.
Survivors include his wife, Amberson Wade Carlyle, Alto; sons, Jerome Carlyle, Clarkesville, and Kenneth Carlyle, Cleveland; five stepchildren; sister, Nettie Martin, Pendergrass; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 31, at 4 p.m., at the Chattahoochee Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Gravely officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Carlyle will lie in state at the church from 3 p.m. until the funeral hour. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, March 30, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m.
