Leecy Carey

Leecy Louise Sexton Carey, 88 of Danielsville, died Wednesday, June 11, 2008, at her residence.

Born in Madison County on September 28, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Christopher Lonnie and Lillie Miller Sexton. She was a homemaker and a charter member of the Evangelical Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Methodist Women’s Club and the Senior Adult Sunday School Class. Mrs. Carey was preceded in death by a son, James Wesley Carey; brothers, Lonnie Jr. and Doyle Sexton; and a sister, Eleanor Murray.

Survivors include her husband, Ford Carey, Danielsville; daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Marion Atkinson, Royston; sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Sara Carey, Winfred and Barbara Carey, Wade and Gwen Carey and Wendell and Michelle Carey, all of Danielsville; brothers, Ed Sexton, Hartwell and Kenneth Sexton, Ila; a sister, Dorothy Fowler, Atlanta; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, June 13, at the Evangelical Methodist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, was in charge of arrangements.
