Donald “Don” Cox, 68 of Winder, died Saturday, June 14, 2008, at his residence.
A native of Roanoke County, Va., he was the son of the late Jack and Hazel Campbell Cox. A former resident of Gwinnett County, he had resided in Barrow County for the past eight years. He was a retired carpenter and a member of Red Hill Baptist Church of Roanoke, Va. Mr. Cox was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara McGee Cox.
Survivors include children and spouse, Maria Holbrook, Sissy Rowland, Carla Wagner, all of Winder, Hope Thompson-McDowell, Hoschton, Karen Archer, Commerce, Ricky and Joy Phillips, Buford; sisters, Florence Gray, Roanoke, Va., and Linda Smith, Auburn; brother, William Cox, Roanoke, Va.; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 17, in the chapel of Carter Funeral Home with the Rev. Dee Dillon officiating. Burial was in Duncan’s Creek Congregational Church Cemetery.
Carter Funeral Home, Winder, was in charge of arrangements.
