Murray “Bud” Sanford Benway, 84, of Braselton, died Friday, June 13, 2008.
He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of the late Lewis and Dorothy Benway. Following graduation from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., he served as an Ensign during World War II. He was a retired gemologist and was a member of the Chamblee Sardis Masonic Lodge #444.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Lee Benway, Braselton; sons and daughters-in-law, James and Vivian Benway, Arvada, Colo., Randall and Eileen Benway, Lafayette, Calif., Donald and Darcy Hopka, Tucker; daughters, Angel Bruce, Hoschton, Audrey Pounder, Poway, Calif.; sister, Muriel Stone, Houston, Texas; brother-in-law, Larry Vaitkus, Roswell; and grandchildren, Eleanor, Thomas, Evan, Alexander, Cassidy and Draven.
Services were held Tuesday, June 17, with a Masonic service held graveside at Lilburn Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation for Children and the March of Dimes.
R.T. Patterson Funeral Home, Lilburn, was in charge of arrangements.
