COMMERCE – Beverly Joan Balthazor, 82, died Friday, March 13, 2009, at St. Mary’s Hospice House in Athens.
Born in Kankakee, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Lialas (Berger) and Harvey Coy. She was a life-long member of the United Methodist Church of Momence, Commerce, and finally in Athens. She graduated from the nursing program at Presbyterian (St. Luke’s) Hospital in Chicago, Ill., and worked as registered nurse throughout her life. Her last position was with the Heritage Nursing Home in Athens. She loved to play piano and sang in the church choir most of her life. She loved her family most of all, loved ones added.
Survivors include children, Susan and Marvin Mason, Jack and Frances Balthazor and Ron and Jane (Hudson) Balthazor; grandchildren, Thomas and Aimee Ballentine, Scott and Andrea Mason, Christopher and Angelia Balthazor, Katherine Hudson, Daniel Balthazor and Cara Mason; and great-grandchildren, Robert Ballentine, Nicholas Ballentine, Jonathan Ballentine and Myles Balthazor; sisters and brothers-in-law, Burdell and Tom Marcotte and Jerry and Nelson Ritsema.
The family will receive friends at Little-Ward Funeral Home Thursday, March 19, at 5 p.m. A memorial service will follow at the funeral home chapel at 7 p.m.
