STATHAM – C.D. “Buck” Holliday, 86, died Tuesday, March 10, 2009.
Born in Barrow County, he was the son of the late Joseph and Lillian Casper Holliday. He was the mayor of Statham for 24 ½ years, was a 50 year member of Statham Masonic Lodge and the Statham American Legion, and was owner/operator of Holliday Lumber Company. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Army during World War II. Mr. Holliday was preceded in death by his first wife of 42 years, Irma Rodgers Holliday.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Holliday, Statham; sons and daughters-in-law, Chet and Pat Holliday, Statham, and Don and Roxana Holliday, Winder; daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Bill Brown, Statham; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 12, at 11 a.m., at Smith Memory Chapel with the Rev. Brent Gilstrap officiating. Burial will be in Barrow Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 11, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
