DAWSON - Martha Pace Spurlock, born on February 24, 1922, died Friday, March 6, 2009.
She was a lifelong resident of Dawson, the daughter of Earle Jackson and Jessie Melton Pace, both Dawson natives, and a sister to Laura Rebecca West, all of who preceded her in death. She was a correspondent for the Dawson News and The Albany Herald before she began her teaching career in Terrell County. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Dawson for 80 years and the Minnie Clark Sunday School Class.
Survivors include her husband, A.D. Spurlock; children and spouses, Nathan and Marsha Twinkle Baxter, Athens, formerly of Commerce, Earle and Linda Fain Spurlock, Albany, Sandy and Carolyn Spurlock, Athens, and Ronnie and Laura Gray, Cordele; ten grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 9, at the First Baptist Church with Wyman Richardson and the Rev. Noel Pace officiating. Burial was at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
