Dr. William Hains Fletcher, 85, of Nicholson, died Friday, June 13, 2008, at his residence of natural causes.
Following graduation from the University of Georgia veterinary school, he practiced veterinary medicine for over 50 years. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Air Force during World War II as a bomber pilot and was a prisoner of war for 15 months.
Survivors include his children, Carol Abersoll, William Fletcher, Connie Over, and Dorothy Edwards; grandchildren, Donna Ledford, Jennifer Davis and Benjamin Edwards; and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held Saturday, June 14 at Emmanuel Church in Athens.

Wages and Sons Gwinnett Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
