JEFFERSON – Tony Ianuario, 61, died Friday, March 6, 2009.
Born in Augusta, Richmond County, he was the son of the late Albert Paul and Robbie Muns Ianuario. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Episcopal Church, a volunteer for the Helping Hands program at Jefferson Elementary School, and made and repaired string instruments. He portrayed Father Christmas at many events and was retired as an engineer from Athens Clarke County. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Army, Vietnam. Mr. Ianuario was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Ianuario. He enjoyed woodworking and restoring of antiques, loved ones added.
Survivors include daughters, Tonia McGres, Lexington, S.C., and Mary Ann Collins, Bonaire; grandchild, Alexander Johnson; brothers, Paul A. Ianuario Sr., Duncan, S.C., Wayne Ianuario, Simpsonville, S.C., and David M. Ianuario, Angelo, Texas; and sisters, Donna T. Ingham, Evans, and Mary Harley, Knoxville, Tenn.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 11, at 11 a.m., at Smith Memory Chapel with the Revs. Beau Farr and Jerry Walls officiating. Burial will be in Woodbine Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 10, from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
