HOMER – Flonnie Scales Blackburn, 86, died Tuesday, February 24, 2009, at BJC Nursing Center.
Born in Banks County on January 11, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Moore H. and Mary Anna Black Scales. She had been employed as a Blue Bell seamstress and was a member of Homer Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Blackburn was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Edward Blackburn; a grandson, Randall Garrison; and son-in-law, Calvin Franklin. She enjoyed her cats and gardening in her spare time, loved ones added.
Survivors include daughters, Patricia Franklin, Joanna, S.C., Lynda Garrison and Sharon Underwood, both of Homer, Wanda Dale, Gillsville; son, Keith Wilson, Homer; 12 grandchildren, two of which were reared in her home, Regina Poole, Baldwin, and David Mealor, Homer; 23 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday, February 26, in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with Pastor David Carithers officiating. Burial was in Cleveland City Cemetery.
