GILLSVILLE – Vader Odell Giles Ray, 72, died Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness.
She was born on April 5, 1936, in Hall County, the daughter of the late Frank G. and Lillie Mae Poston Giles. She retired from the United States Government with 28 years of service, and was of the Southern Baptist denomination. Mrs. Ray was preceded in death by sisters, infant Laura Mae Giles and Patricia Willard; brothers, John Lee Giles and David Giles.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Oscar H. Ray, Gillsville; sons and daughters-in-law, Harold A. “Buster” and Penny J. Ray, Kansas City, Mo., and Jeffrey M. and Jennie Ray, Destin, Fla.; grandsons, Brandon Ray, Garrett “Dusty” Ray and Gregory “Beau” Scafide; granddaughters, Megan Agnor and Karoline Starr; sisters, Sylvia Ann Young, Clayton, and Patsy Sikes, Lawrenceville; brothers, Frank Giles, Blairsville, and Henry Giles, Jefferson; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 7, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with Pastor Ed Gill officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, March 7, from 1 to 2 p.m.
