CARNESVILLE – James Mitchell Andrews, 79, died Thursday, February 26, 2009.
Born on May 9, 1929, in Lavonia, he was the son of the late J.P. and Georgia Darrell Clements Andrews. He was a member of the Cross Roads Baptist Church, was a farmer, a mason, a member of the American Legion, the VFW, and was on the board of directors of the Franklin County Farm Bureau. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Army’s 432nd Combat Engineering Battalion during the Korean War. Mr. Andrews was preceded in death by his wife, Jenelle Ayers Andrews; brother, Royce Andrews; and brother-in-law, Ralph Bellamy Sr.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Jeffrey Allen, Kennesaw; sister, Betty Troyce Andrews Sisk, Monroe; and some family and many friends in Banks County.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 2, at B.D. Ginn Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Grady Jordan officiating. Burial was in the Franklin Memorial Gardens with military honors.
