CRAWFORD – Myrtie S. Alewine, 96, died Sunday, March 1, 2009.
A native of Danielsville, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Mae Chastain Scarborough. She was a homemaker and member of Friendship Baptist Church. Mrs. Alewine was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Alewine; and siblings, J.B. Alewine, Willie Alewine and Odell Alewine.
Survivors include a son, Bud Alewine, Lexington; daughters, Carolyn Alewine, Athens, Janelle Whitlock, Center, Edna Crawford, Hull; 25 grandchildren; and many great and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 4, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home with the Revs. Dayton Logan and Larry Elliott officiating. Burial will be at Friendship Baptist Church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mike Alewine, Bo Alewine, Johnny Wood, Dale Bowles, Roger Alewine, Buck Alewine and Buddy Alewine. Flowers will be accepted.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 3, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
