HOMER – Ethel Evans Morgan, 84, died Friday, February 27, 2009.
Born in Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Fletcher and Elsie Savage Evans. She worked welding ships in Savannah during World War II, and in manufacturing for many years. She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church, and was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond “R.C.” Morgan.
Survivors include children, Florine Black and Randall Morgan, both of Homer, Letitia Westbrook, Commerce; sister, Viola Standridge, Hartwell, and Montine Davis, Jefferson; brothers, Loyd Evans, Jefferson, Lonzo Evans, Statham, and Connie Evans, Gulf Port, Miss.; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, March 1, at the Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church with the Revs. George Tubbs, Phil Ferguson and L.C. Standridge officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, was in charge of arrangements.
